My lessons are aimed at prospective vocal students in preparation for entrance exams, competitions, upcoming concerts and music A-level exams. I teach classical singing (from baroque to bel canto) as well as musical singing and chanson. The lessons are divided into warm-up/exercises, repertoire work, vocal technique, stylistics, interpretation and performance practice. The lessons are offered via Zoom or in the Ulm area. Students benefit from my international stage experience as an opera and concert singer as well as a musical performer and solo artist.

Singing lessons with Kinga Dobay
Benefit from the professionals
I began my musical career by studying violin, then switched to singing and studied first musical and then opera singing at the Leipzig University of Music. I became a master student of Julia Hamari, Teresa Berganza and Grace Bumbry. With a DAAD scholarship, I completed my postgraduate studies at the Maastricht Conservatory with Mya Besselink, graduating cum laude in June 2006. Back in 1999, I won first prize in the chanson/musical category at the national singing competition in Berlin. My comic talent and versatility brought me to the Friedrichstadtpalast in Berlin from 2000 to 2002, where I was celebrated as an all-round artist in over 400 performances (Revue Berlin, Jingle Bells). In the field of musicals I was in Mack & Mabel (Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe), in Cyrano de Bergerac (Freilichtspiele Schwäbisch Hall), as Lola in Heute Abend: Lola Blau (Moritzbastei Leipzig), as Aldonza in Der Mann von La Mancha (Kornhaustheater Bregenz), as Marlene Dietrich in the Friedrich Hollaender Revue ( Ettlinger Schloßfestpiele and Wetzlarer Festspiele ) and as Anita in WEST SIDE STORY at the Bregenz Festival 2004, directed by Francesca Zambello. I have received several awards for my outstanding performances in opera: Zarzuela Prize at Plácido Domingo's Operalia 2005 in Madrid, 2nd Operetta Prize at the Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition 2005 in Vienna, Shizuoka Singing Competition in Hamamatsu/Japan 2005, 2nd Opera Prize and Audience Prize at IVC s'Hertogenbosch 2006. I made my operatic debut in the role of Carmen at Jeunesses Musicales under Yakov Kreizberg in 2003, and in 2004/2005 I sang the same role in Tokyo at the New National Theatre and in Toyama under Maestro Myung Whun Chung. I have sung the title role of Bizet in 13 productions to date, including in Berlin, Dresden, Leipzig, Ulm, Merano, Reggio Calabria and Catanzaro. Opera engagements have taken me to Dublin as the composer in Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos, to Prague with Poulenc's La voix humaine, as Mozart's Donna Elvira to the Eutin Festival, as Rossini's Rosina to Alden Biesen/Belgium, in the title role of Donizetti's first opera Enrico di Borgogna to the Vadstena Festival/Sweden and in Handel's title roles Serse, Ariodante to Ulm. Important venues for concerts and recitals have included the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Teatro Real Madrid, Al Busan Festival Beirut, Tonhalle Zurich, Victoria Hall Geneva, Casino Bern, Konzerthaus Sankt Gallen, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal, Konzerthaus Stadthalle Heidelberg, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Theater des Westens, Konzerthaus and the Philharmonie Berlin. Artistic collaborations with renowned conductors such as Plácido Domingo, Daniele Callegari, Wayne Marshall, Koen Schoots, Reinhard Goebel, David Stahl, Federico Santi, Olof Bomann, Guillaume Tourniaire, Georg Schmöhe, Ulrich Kern, David Timm, Russell Harris, Jan Michael Horstmann have enriched my career. Numerous radio and television recordings with MDR, ORB and SWR document my opera and operetta activities. Since 2016, I have also dedicated myself to the next generation of singers as a qualified singing teacher, mentoring and preparing prospective students for universities and singing competitions. My students have won several 1st prizes at national level at Jugend Musiziert and study at the August Everding Academy in Munich, Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, Stage School Hamburg and the MuK in Vienna, among others. I am also a regular guest lecturer at master classes and a jury member at international competitions. I have also been performing on cruise ships for several years with various programs from opera, operetta and chanson and made my "Traumschiff" television debut in 2019 alongside Harald Schmidt and Barbara Wussow in the episode "Zambia". www.kingadobay.com
Kinga has already paved the way to the big stage for many young people, including me. I'm not a natural talent, it takes a lot of work. It was only thanks to her that I was able to fulfill the vocal requirements to get one of the few highly regarded places to study music at the MuK in Vienna. Since 2016, she has taught me the basics of classical singing as well as musical and chanson singing, so that year after year I have won 1st prizes at national level in all three categories of Jugend Musiziert, reached the semi-finals of the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin 2021 and was awarded the Emerging Talent Award at the Lotte Lenya Competition New York 2023 thanks to her preparation. But above all, her personal commitment, motivation and patience make her an incredible teacher and enrichment in my life. She always believed in me as an artist, pushed me further and made me who I am today.

I would like to wholeheartedly recommend Kinga as a singing teacher and "coach" for entrance exams. Her expertise, her in-depth knowledge and her ability to impart this knowledge in an individual and targeted manner make her an absolutely top-class teacher.
With her help, I was optimally prepared to apply to state universities with a suitable, well-thought-out repertoire. She prepared me not only technically but also mentally to face the challenges of the entrance exams. Thanks to her dedication and expertise, I successfully passed the entrance exam and can now live my dream.
Sanja Matea Färber / Musical graduate from Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences
Kinga not only has sound vocal knowledge. She also knows very well how to pass this on in such a way that you can work with it. She always finds a way to communicate well and is always honest in her assessments and feedback. She patiently and step by step guides you to a strong and radiant vocal sound and healthy vocal technique.
Kinga knows exactly how voice works. You will learn a lot about phrasing, dynamics, stylistics, pronunciation (she speaks 7 languages). She is honest, tells you directly what is right and wrong - this is the only way you can work and grow! Go to her and benefit from her skills, knowledge and potential!
I had two years of singing lessons with Kinga and can only recommend her 🙂
Before that, I had already had lessons with various singing teachers as I was specifically preparing for entrance exams in the field of musicals. I finally "arrived" with Kinga. With her empathetic manner and professional expertise, she creates the perfect balance between having fun singing and achieving personal goals. Thanks to Kinga, I was able to learn a healthy singing technique and still benefit from her lessons today.
I have been taking singing lessons with Kinga since the end of 2020 and I am completely thrilled. Thanks to her extensive expertise in various genres, her lessons are extremely versatile and customizable.
Her excellent hearing is particularly impressive. She immediately recognizes even the slightest inaccuracies and clearly and vividly explains how to correct them. Her clear explanations make it easy to apply what you have learned directly, so that progress is quickly visible and audible.
Kinga's lessons also go far beyond pure vocal technique. With her many years of stage experience, she gives valuable advice on performance and stage presence, which is particularly invaluable for performances.
Kinga creates a motivating and pleasant learning environment in which you can develop optimally. I can recommend her unreservedly to anyone who wants to take their singing to a professional level.
Christina Paal / Jugend Musiziert 2021 (2nd prize winner)
I started taking singing lessons with Kinga in 2019 at the age of 14 and it was the best decision I could have made. In my very first year, she sent me to the Jugend Musiziert competition, where I won 1st prize in the classical singing category. In the following years, I alternately won 1st and 2nd prizes in pop and musical singing at national level, because Kinga was able to prepare me perfectly for every competition with her cross-genre knowledge: singing, dancing and acting.
All of this would never have happened without Kinga and especially without her above-average commitment and I am grateful that she always motivates and supports me and takes me out of my comfort zone. The experiences I have had with Kinga's singing lessons are more than valuable and have not only helped me in singing, but also in other areas of my life.
